When it opened in 1962, Willis Tower was the tallest building in the world.
The tower had the tallest, most dramatic views in New York City and the world, and was considered the most spectacular of all New York skyscrapers.
Its location in the heart of the city, just off the Brooklyn Bridge, made it one of the few high-rise buildings in the city to be built entirely on public land.
In 1963, Willis became the tallest tower in the United States, and in 1974, it became the world’s tallest building.
This time, Willis Towers new tower is the tallest in the skydeck.
