Tower Prep is the mobile phone tower operator operating in Melbourne that is also responsible for the tower.
The company said the tower was down in the Melbourne suburb of Kew.
“The tower was located in the north-eastern suburbs of Kegon and North Bend,” Tower Prep’s Twitter account said.
“There was a short time of heavy wind and heavy rain but the tower is safe and sound.”
“We would like to thank all those who came to help with our tower evacuation last night and to all those affected by the flooding that occurred this morning,” the tweet continued.
“We also thank all our staff for their outstanding work during this evacuation.”
It is understood that Tower Prep had been providing free service in the suburb since January when it became the first tower to operate in the city.”
Our priority is to keep the tower secure so that it can remain operational throughout the day.”
